In an isolated mountain village sealed off from the outside world, twins Yuru and Asa live completely different lives. Yuru is a skilled hunter who roams the forests freely, while his sister Asa is locked away in a cage, forbidden from meeting anyone and tasked with a mysterious duty no one will explain. Their quiet existence is shattered when helicopters—called "dragons" by the villagers—descend upon the village. Armed mercenaries raid the settlement, killing every adult in sight, all in search of Yuru. When Yuru rushes to save his sister, he finds her dead. Standing over her body is a woman wearing an eyepatch who looks exactly like Asa—and she claims to be his real twin sister. Before she can capture him, Yuru is rescued by Dera, a traveling merchant who frequently visited the village. Cornered and with no other options, Dera guides Yuru through an ancient ritual: offering a gift to the village deity using a stone amulet and Yuru's own blood. From twin statues at the village entrance, two powerful supernatural beings called "Tsugai" (Daemons)—named Left and Right—awaken and bind themselves to Yuru. Now thrust into a hidden world of Daemons and their wielders, Yuru must uncover the truth about his family, his prophesied abilities, and why someone wants him dead—all while being pursued by the woman who claims to be his sister.
